Organisational behaviour

According to Keith Davis ‘Organisational behaviour is the study and application of knowledge about how people act within organizations’. It is a human tool for human benefit. It applies broadly to the behaviour of people in all types of organizations such as business government, schools, church etc.,
Feed Luthans defines organizational behaviour as ‘understanding, predicting and controlling human behaviour at work’.
The study of organizational behaviour has certain basic assumptions. They are :
  1. An Industrial enterprise is an organization of people
  2. These people must be motivated to work effectively
  3. The goals of the employee and the employeer may not necessasrily coincide
  4. The policies and procedures adopted in an enterprise may influence people in the directions which may not always be those designed by the policy makers.
Every filed of social science has a foundation of basic concepts that guide its development. These concepts are apriori. The field of organizational Behaviour has concepts revolving round the nature of the people and the nature of the organizations.
